About the Author

Franklin Hum Yun was born in 1925 in South Korea. He was raised in a family that honored the Confucius tradition. Yun graduated from the Union Christian College in Seoul (now known as Soong-sil University). Before leaving Korea, he taught at local high schools and the Central Theological Seminary (now known as Kangnam University). In addition, Yun directed a national survey of handicapped children and served as the Executive Secretary of the Korea Association of Voluntary Agencies. Later, he received his master's in social work from the University of Southern California and went on to serve as supervisor and deputy administrator for the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services for twenty-three years. Yun is now retired and resides in California.
