4to In. Transactions of Zoological Society of London Vol. 1. 1835, pp. 91-112 + 4 hand colored engraved plates. (Communicated May 28, 1833) . 4to Offprint bound quarter leather and marble boards. Binding, text and plates are very clean with strong coloring on plates. This is a very scarce and most interesting entomological offprint providing the detailed description of new genera and species determined by Hope and illustrated with detailed scientific drawings of several representative insects including scale lines that are complemented by equally detailed hand coloring of these insects. Inscribed: "With the Writers regards/ FW. Hope/ George Robert Waterhouse." George Robert Waterhouse (1810 & 1888) was an English naturalist. In 1833, Waterhouse was elected as the Royal Entomological society of London's 's librarian and curator of insects and records. He was made curator of the Zoological Society of London's 's museum in 1836. Charles Darwin entrusted him with the study of the mammals and beetles collected on the voyage of the Beagle. In 1843 he became assistant keeper of Mineralogy and Geology at the British Museum, becoming keeper in 1851 upon the death of Charles Konig. In 1857 the department was divided and he was made keeper of Geology, remaining so until 1880. (Wikepedia). Bookseller Inventory # 0000566
