Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 178 Machine Gun Company, Divisional Troops, 46th Division, covering February 1917 to February 1918 across 90 pages. It names 16 places across 28 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries four reports, narratives and plans and two Operation Orders. Among the papers are: Fire orders for Barrage Groups; Fire orders for Barrage Guns; Fir Mg orders 178 M.G. Company; Firing order. The diary opens at Grantham on 8 February 1917. 1917 is spent at Mazingarbe, Sains-En-Gohelle, Noyelles, Aldershot and Ourton. 1918 at Beaumetz Les Aires, Noyelles, Cholues, Chozues and Hurionville. It closes at Beaumetz Les Aires on 28 February 1918. Mazingarbe is where it spent longest, 113 days across five separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 40 days at Aldershot. In 1917 it is also recorded at Havre, Bourceq, Norrent Fontes, Busnes, La Beuvriere and Verquin Nazingarbe.
