Charlie The Chipmunk - Just Keep Going: Just Keep Going (Paperback or Softback)

Charlie the Chipmunk: Just Keep Going is a heartwarming, humor-filled picture book that celebrates perseverance, bravery, and the quiet magic of nature.

When Charlie sets out alone with a green backpack and a walking stick, his goal is simple (or so he thinks): climb to the top of the mountain. But the trail has other plans. From messy mishaps (like stepping in mystery poop) to steep paths, changing weather, and surprise animal encounters, every page brings a new test for Charlie’s tiny chipmunk feet—and his determination.

Along the way, Charlie meets a wise turtle, a speedy squirrel, a sleepy bear, and a few unexpected friends. Each moment brings laughter, challenges, and choices. And each time Charlie feels like giving up, he remembers the words that echo in his head: “I just have to keep going.” It’s more than a phrase—it’s the lesson that carries him forward.

Told with gentle wit and rich, expressive illustrations in a painterly, storybook style, this uplifting adventure offers young readers a relatable hero who struggles, stumbles, laughs, and grows. Whether it’s a mountain trail or a tough school day, the message rings true: don’t give up—just keep going.

Perfect for ages 4–8, this book is ideal for storytime, classrooms, libraries, and bedtime. It’s a great tool for social-emotional learning, growth mindset conversations, and character education at home or school.

This is the first in a potential series of nature-inspired adventures featuring Charlie and his woodland friends.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, this is my first children's book, and the idea came to me in a vivid dream that inevitably inspired the story-and so it began. I spent over two decades working in healthcare before making a career change to work in an elementary school with young children. I also have small grandchildren who lovingly call me Nonni. Today's children often lead very busy lives in an equally busy world, and my hope is that both the child and adult reading Charlie the Chipmunk will be reminded to slow down, quiet the mind, and enjoy the peace and wonder of nature and the outdoors.....and to always persevere.
