Charming Small Hotel Guides: France

Like all Charming Small Hotel Guides, France is highly selective. Every entry is more than just a bed for the night: It's an experience, worth planning a vacation around, or going out of your way for. Including interesting new hotels all over France, each entry has a full-page description along with full-color photographs. Over the years, the number of charming small hotels in France has increased steadily. In order for a new hotel to be considered it must have that extra special something - regardless of category and facilities - that makes it worth seeking out. Quite apart from the fact that many of the hotels in this guide are in wonderful buildings and beautiful locations, their standards of welcome, ambience, cleanliness, attention to detail and food are above average. As in every Charming Small Hotel Guide, there are maps and hotel name and location indexes. This is the independently inspected (no hotel pays to be included) color illustrated guide to charming hotels in France.

Started in 1986, the Charming Small Hotel Guides have sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. They are the only independently-inspected (no hotel pays for an entry) accommodation guides; they focus on places that have real charm and character; and they are particularly fussy about size, with most hotels having fewer than 20 bedrooms. In addition, each entry is accompanied by a color photograph and a full-page description.

Charming Small Hotels offer more than just a bed for the night. The editors look for hotels that have that extra special something, regardless of category and facilities, that make them worth seeking out.

Travel and food writer/editor Leonie Glass and author Fiona Duncan have worked on many guidebooks together, including the Charming Small Hotels series.
