Chatter With the Angels: An Illustrated Songbook for Children

Color illustrations accompany the words and music for ninety sacred songs.

Gr. 2-6. This cheerful volume, with 90 selections of Christian music arranged for piano and guitar, will appeal to a wide audience. A variety of historical periods, styles, and cultures are represented, including African American, Mexican, Japanese, Israeli, Swedish, Welsh, American, and South African. There are hymns, lullabies, rounds, even table graces, grouped into sections such as "Songs of Peace," "Christ Has Arisen," and "Thinking about Heaven." The collection is enhanced by floral borders and appealing, realistic illustrations, primarily pictures of the natural world or of children engaged in various activities. The wonderful collection is also well indexed, including subject, title, and tune indexes as well as an index of first lines. Information on sources is provided as well. A tribute to the Christian musical heritage and fun to use. Shelley Townsend-Hudson
