Chatting with the Bible: 70 Short Stories based on Scripture from the Old & New Testaments

Reading this Chatting with the Bible will become a valuable teaching moment for readers as they benefit from Dr. Springer's over 40 years experience as a psychologist and person of faith.

Dr. Springer brings understanding to the Bible. However, his book is controversial because he used ChatGPT to help him write it. The teachings are doctrinally sound and reach a broad Christian audience as they are based on the Bible.

Here are some things that people saying about Chatting with the Bible:

"I collaborated with ChatGPT to generate a book with 70 stories based on the Bible. I used it as a tool and very carefully oversaw everything in terms of framing it and then adding my own comments. The way the book is set up, I have 70 short stories based on selected passages from Scripture, and I had AI generate a story on each of those passages. I framed it in terms of the tone I wanted it to take and the connections I wanted it to make with other stories in the Bible. Then I carefully reviewed it and edited it where appropriate. After each story, I have the Scripture on which the story is based, and then I have my reflections."
—Dr. Joseph Springer

"In Chatting with the Bible, Joe Springer has given a gift to those of us interested in going deeper with Scripture. By adding his own personal commentary to each pericope and putting AI to holy use, Joe has helped make the Bible a little less baffling to us modern believers."
—Rev. Evan W. Dodge, DMin
St. Paul's United Methodist Church

"Bible sales have increased each year since 2021 as people seek meaning and connection with their spiritual realities. In his new book, Chatting with the Bible, Dr, Joseph Springer provides an accessible introduction to Christian scripture. Not a commentary or concordance, but rather a book of short stories; this highly readable collection tells Biblical stories in the language of today.

"In the unique process of story development, Dr. Springer chose 70 meaningful passages from the Old and New Testament, developed parameters for the generation of a short story, used ChatGBT to generate the story, and then painstakingly reviewed and reworked the story to ensure its consistency with the scriptural source. For each story he includes both the original scripture passage and his own thoughtful reflection. Those reflections are drawn from his career as a psychologist and educator, his life as husband and father, and his Christian faith journey.

"What emerges is a deeply moving anthology from Genesis to Pentecost. While not a text for the theologian or scripture scholar, Chatting with the Bible serves to spread the Good News to those new to the Bible and to those familiar with the scripture who will find the stories deepen their reflection."
