He Cheated With His Stepmother

My husband cheated with his stepmother. So I fell for his father.

Donna isn't some distant family connection. She's the thirty-year-old woman married to Chase's father, and my husband is sleeping with her. The message chain on his phone proves it.

I'm not the only one who needs to know the truth, so I tell Travis what's happening. My father-in-law is forty-five, powerful, controlled, and completely blindsided when I show him proof that his wife has been sleeping with his son. Within days, we're both preparing for divorce while Chase and Donna scramble to protect the lives they thought they could keep.

Travis and I should have nothing in common except betrayal.

Instead, he's the one who finally sees how much of myself I've sacrificed for my marriage. He's there when I can't hold myself together anymore, and when his own control finally cracks, I'm the person he trusts enough to see it.

The more our spouses lose, the closer Travis and I become.

It's messy. It's forbidden. He's my husband's father, and he's everything his son never learned how to be.

By the time Chase realizes what he's thrown away, I'm done being the wife who makes his life work while he takes the credit. He looks at Travis and me and makes one final accusation. "You're sleeping with my father."

Not yet.
