In fair condition. Boards are quite worn with scuffing, surface scratches to boards. Corners crushed with beginning stages of red rot to hinges and edges. Spine scuffed and slightly creased. Interior lightly toned with foxing. Staining both dampness and small areas of chemical throughout. Frontispiece torn and loose, but intact. Free of marginalia. Binding tight and intact. Please see photos. Accum never made any significant contributions to pure chemistry, but those he made made to technical and industrial chemistry were important; likewise, his activities as lecturer and author played a significant part in the diffusion of chemical practice. Apart from his membership of the Royal Institution, he corresponded with the Royal Irish Academy, the Linnaean Society, and the Royal Academy of Sciences in Berlin. Scarce.
