Combs and covers a bit rubbed, contents very good, ex-lib with couple of small labels on fep, small stamps etc. This pioneering transport plan - known as CATS - used new methods for projecting future transport demand in the Greater Chicago area. While population and employment trends were substantially overestimated, the report also significantly underestimated the growth in automobile ownership and individual demand levels - the two errors largely offset each other, giving reasonably accurate projects of traffic in the horizon year of 1980. The proposals included an ambitious set of highway construction projects, which were largely not implemented, and a more modest set of improvements to the city's mass transit system, which largely were.
