Synopsis
A book about Chicago during two "decades": from the 1950s through 1965 and from 1965 into the 1970s. This is a book of two hundred photographs, mixed with memories of eighty Chicagoans with different backgrounds and experiences. Each has a common focus: remembrances of a time of change. Chapters include city and suburban neighborhoods, sports, local and national politics, the changing downtown, the Civil Rights Movement, the Democratic National Convention, and entertainment. About the Author
Neal Samors, a native Chicagoan, is co-author of six books, including "The Old Chicago Neighborhood," "Chicago in the Fifties," "Real Chicago," "Real Chicago Sports," "Neighborhoods Within Neighborhoods," and "Chicago's Far North Side." Three of the books have won the Illinois State Historical Society's Superior Achievement Award, and "The Old Chicago Neighborhood" won the 2004 Independent Publisher Award for best history book.
