Child of a Wandering Star

Tyk is a normal girl who wants a normal life: a loving family, gems for her carapace, and a job digging tunnels for her hive. But Tyk was born under a wandering star, and is destined to leave her home behind; a destiny which becomes unavoidable when a star egg falls from the sky... and hatches.

The baby star is strange. With only two legs, no mandibles, and no carapace, she's almost helpless. Tyk is charged with taking her to the Starspire, the sacred mountain where earth meets sky, to get her back home among the stars. But this creature from the sky brings dangers of her own...
