Childbirth and the Child

Hardbound in deep olive cloth, spine gilt, gilt faded. 25 x 17 cms. Two Parts bound in one volume. Part First: 1: 131 pp. Part Second: 136 pp. Illustrated throughout. Fragile paper. This copy with an interesting career: Source Label: "W Smith Medical Herbalist & Masseur (Certified)". Then "Given to Timothy Wheeler (Mr). Princess Ann Hospital Southampton. 25.12.95". Very very scarce. The Author's first work. The "Prefaratory" (Preface) states (Para 1)."When the author of this book attempted to get a publisher to take hold of his first book, he found that no publishing house dared to publish a book not sanctioned by the regular or allopathic schools". We deduce then that was privately published by an "Alfred Roper. Book & Job Printer", at the Author's own expense. With 19 B & W illustration and one full plate in colour: "The Viscera in Position". More information on request with pleasure. [Note: Allopathic Medicine or allopathy is a pejorative term used by proponents of alternative medicine to refer to modern scientific systems of medicine].…
