The volumes are beautifully illustrated with color plates, color illustrations at the outer page margins, color frontispieces, illustrated end papers in color, and decorative title pages. Decorative gilt spines, and gilt top page edges. Complete set in 10 volumes. Hefty set that weight over 23 pounds when packaged.

Condition:
The set is in overall Very Good condition. The pages are lightly age-toned, though not brittle. Some light tanning to the end papers and pastedowns. Occasional mild foxing to the text pages. All volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. All covers are securely attached. VOLS 1 & 3 - the back covers have some light soiling and what appears to be some pencil lines. VOLS 9 & 10 have some very light pencil lines at the bottom edge of the front covers. VOL 3 has a minor crack at the front hinge between the end paper and half title page, though the front cover remains securely attached. Overall a wonderful set.
