Hardcover, Stevenson's middle name "Louis", on the cover and inside is spelled with a V. The black cover has the wonderful colored paper paste down of the garden gate, with two children down the path behind it. The paste down in on the cover. The cover has a little wear to the outside edges the corners are bumped with a bit of shelf wear; the title is in black and the spine has the title in gilt and is sun struck; the fore edge is rough cut. The endpapers are a bit age yellowed, there are of four children illustrated in color working in the garden with trees in-between them; the glue at the hinge has stained front and back. The title page has an illustration of a child kneeling between two hollyhocks which are colored. The interior is age yellowed and has some light foxing, there are wonderful illustrations throughout. 125pp. Seller Inventory # 000995
