About the Author
Sam Sachdeva has been covering China's rise on the world stage - and New Zealand's efforts to get to grips with it - for the past four years, as one of New Zealand's only journalists with a dedicated focus on foreign affairs. He is currently the national affairs editor at Newsroom, was chairman of the Parliamentary Press Gallery from 2019 to 2020, and has covered visits abroad by three different New Zealand prime ministers during his decade-plus career as a journalist.
