China’s Peril and Promise is an advanced Chinese reader in two volumes for students who want to enhance their understanding of modern China in general and modern Chinese literature and intellectuals in particular. About the Author

Chih-p'ing Chou is professor of East Asian studies at Princeton University and director of the university's Chinese language and Princeton in Beijing programs. Xuedong Wang is a lecturer in Chinese at Princeton University. Joanne Chiang is a senior lecturer in Chinese at Washington University in St. Louis.
