Batsford Ltd 1945 9" x 6 7/8" w/ black & white frontispiece and photographs throughout During the Second World War Cecil Beaton was sent to the Far East as a War Photographer for the Ministry of Information. Whilst there he took thousands of photographs, a selection of which are collected into his Chinese Album. Beaton took an eager interest in everyone he met and all levels of Chinese society are documented in the book, with images of poets, scholars, orphans, mothers, soldiers, government officials, firemen, policemen, noodle makers, salt miners, farmers, factory workers and villagers. *lacking rear inner flap lower portion w/ tear*.
