Fine in Near Fine - book has clean pages, sharp corners, jacket has minimal wear - some pressure marks, light scratches. The flamboyant Mr Chinnery, "the famous painter, the penniless fornicator, the begetter of an uncertain number of illegitimate Chinnerys white, brown and yellow, and the recorder of faces, places, pursuits and pastimes in India and on the south China coast" (Go London). The Cat digs artistic and counter-cultural movements, and also of course the unusual and the curious (hence the "Peculiar" in the name). The Cat's yen for the 19th century (including art, fashion, affairs, exploration) is possibly influenced by living in a 19th century brownstone, a future gallery for the store.
