I've had a CHiP on my shoulder for over two decades. It hasn't been easy. Marriage is hard, but marriage to a police officer is even harder. Shift work, mood swings, and risk have been a big part of the life I live with my officer. But with the right mindset, it can be done, and it can be done well. A CHiP on my Shoulder: How to Love Your Cop with Attitude provides true stories from several marriages, positive thoughts and proven principles on how to make a law enforcement marriage not only survive its difficulties, but thrive in the midst of them.
About the Author: Victoria M. Newman has been a cop wife for almost 30 years. Her husband, Brent, is a Chief with the California Highway Patrol. They have lived in many areas of California, starting with the Los Angeles area and currently with Headquarters in the Sacramento area. They have four children, and one grandchild. Victoria is Founder and President of How2LoveYourCop, a charitable organization that strives to help police families thrive relationally, emotionally, and spiritually. She has partnered with departments, wives’ groups, ministries, chaplaincies, organizations, foundations, and individuals to bring about the best possible resources for those in law enforcement. She has written two books for law enforcement families, three other books as a ghostwriter, and has consulted with at least a dozen other authors on their published works. She is a sought-after speaker for law enforcement and military audiences, trained as a law enforcement chaplain and peer support member, and mentors several police spouses and couples (with her husband). She is also a columnist for LawOfficer magazine. You can reach Victoria at victoria@how2loveyourcop.com.
