Small octavo in mustard cloth with black embellishments, bands and titles to spine. Floral endpapers and decorated text block edges. A gift inscription pasted in to the front free endpapers. 494 pp. with an appendix of vi pages. Pages 82 - 87 and 257-272 and 449 - 464 are age toned much more than the rest of the book. In some cases one side of a leaf is age toned and the other is not. Wear at spine ends. Corners bumped. Wear to the external rear hinge on the exterior of the rear cover at the bottom and top of the margin at the spine. Some discoloration to the covers. Still a very solid copy. Presumed first edition. No edition remarks.
