In the preface William states that he has enlarged the appendices so as to meet the wants of advanced students and he also added a collection of upwards of one hundred miscellaneous exampled, which he thought would add very much to the utility of the book. This volume has blank pages after every printed page for the reader or student to make notes. Notes in ink to some of these pages and to some of the printed text pages. xii, 254pp. Approximately 7 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles on a maroon label with gilt edges, worn top and tail. Joints good condition rubbed and worn. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition darkened full vellum, both boards are marked and worn. Page edges good condition top edge slightly darkened, all red. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition hinge paper is broken to both hinges, but the book is holding well. Paste downs good condition marbled. End papers good condition marbled, subsequent end papers tanned and foxed, the initials S. L. W. are written of the first free end paper. Title good condition tanned with minor foxing. Pages good condition half title present, preface by W. Allen Whitworth followed by a Preface to the First Edition dated 1867, numerous formulas and calculations throughout with some hand written notes on some of the blank pages including 3 of the free end papers at the rear, and to some of the text pages also, lightly tanned throughout.
