Choices

What happens inside a classroom when learning is no longer just about academics—but about survival, trust, and growth?

CHOICES is a deeply human account of one school year inside a behavior-focused classroom, following students whose actions once defined them—and the adults who refused to let that be the end of their story.

Norman erupts when technology is taken away, then learns the power of pause and accountability.
Katie begins the year running from class, hiding in hallways, and declaring she’s leaving—until she finds her voice and learns how to ask for what she needs.
William hides under his desk, afraid of being seen, overwhelmed by missed work and anxiety—until confidence replaces fear and he finally walks into class on his own terms.
Jeremy arrives energetic, disruptive, and eager to maintain high grades to secure a spot on the sports team. Even as his behavior costs him opportunities, his teachers push him forward, teaching him that mistakes don’t cancel progress.

Through everyday classroom moments, difficult conversations, and hard-earned breakthroughs, this book captures the quiet victories that often go unseen: a pass requested instead of a hallway chase, an apology offered before an eruption, a student raising their hand for help for the first time.

This is not a book about perfect systems or miracle solutions. It’s about consistency, patience, setbacks, and the slow, powerful transformation that happens when students feel safe enough to try again.

For educators, counselors, administrators, parents, and anyone who believes in second chances, this book serves as a reminder that growth rarely occurs in straight lines—and that sometimes, the most meaningful learning has nothing to do with grades.
