A Poor condition copy of The Christian Quaker and His Divine Testimony by William Penn, published in 1699. Front cover is missing, first pages have detached, and following few pages are loose, though rest of the book is tightly bound. Significant loss to leather binding on spine. Back cover is present, but missing significant piece of bottom corner.

William Penn (1644-1718) was an English writer and Quaker who funded the Province of Pennsylvania. He was known as an advocate for religious freedom and democracy. In 1681 he was given a large piece of land in America by King Charles II, in repayment for debts. Penn left England 1622 to go to America, where sailing up the Delaware he founded Philadelphia.
