The Christian Record: Volume 1 (Paperback or Softback)

A forgotten treasure of the Restoration Movement, The Christian Record was edited by James M. Mathes, and tackled many of the pressing issues of the day, including a back-and-forth debate on Millerism (William Miller's date-setting for the coming of Christ).

Also included are some fascinating reviews of debates (such as one involving Elder Benjamin Franklin) and other periodicals amongst the Disciples of Christ (labelled by the denominational sects as "Campbellites"), such as The Orthodox Preacher, edited by William Crihfield, who later published The Heretic Detector.

Featuring articles by James M. Mathes, Thomas Campbell, Aylett Raines, Elijah Goodwin, T.J. Edmonson, John Wright, and many other brethren of the time.

This brand-new edition is the latest in a series of Restoration Movement Journals brought back to the public. We have increased the size, making the font more readable, corrected any obvious typos, but also kept the original pagination and layout so researchers of the Stone-Campbell Movement can use it with confidence, knowing it matches the original.
