Hand written leather bound copy of *Lectures Upon the Scheme of Mercy* by Rev. Robert E. Pattison D. D. from his Christian Theology course and also Abstract of Lectures Upon Ecclesiastical Polity by Rev. Henry J. Ripley DD. This hand-copied book likely belonged to a student at Newton Theological Institute, one: Eduard C. Mitchell 1852 (as inscribed on title page). Robert E Pattison graduated 1826 from Amherst, taught Math from 1827-29 at Waterville (now Colby college); was a pastor in Salem, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island; Returned to Waterville as President (1836/39), then Newton Theological institute in Massachusetts.
