"Christianizing Our Community" provides a practical and idealistic framework for integrating Christian ethics into the fabric of local society. Written during a transformative era for religious education, this work serves as a guide for church leaders, educators, and students seeking to bridge the gap between individual faith and collective social action. The text explores how religious institutions can actively participate in community improvement, addressing vital issues of social welfare, civic engagement, and ethical living.

Erwin L. Shaver focuses on the importance of project-based religious education, encouraging readers to move beyond abstract theology toward tangible community service. The work outlines methods for analyzing specific community needs and implementing programs that reflect Christian values in everyday life. It emphasizes the collective responsibility of the church to foster a more just and compassionate social order through direct involvement and education.

This volume remains a significant historical document of the social gospel movement, offering deep insights into early 20th-century approaches to social reform and religious pedagogy.
