The Christmas Cat on Ridge Road (Paperback)

Paperback. A standalone novel in The Christmas Cat Novels. She carried the mail on that ridge for twenty-two years. She carried one thing too far. Ninety-four miles. Three hundred and forty boxes. Six mornings a week, in the dark, before anybody on Ridge Road is awake. On the first of December, Birdie Ott finds the flag up on a dead woman's mailbox - and a white cat sitting in the middle of the road who does not move for the headlights. For nineteen years Alma Pelkey handed Birdie a letter for her son on the first of every month, and every month Birdie said she would see it went out. Alma's son has driven a truck since 2007 and has never had an address. And there are two hundred and fourteen of those letters in a footlocker at the foot of Birdie's mother's bed, tied in bundles by year, not one of them opened. Now he has come home to settle the farm, and the whole ridge is getting ready to put a lamp in every north window - the way it has since 1914, so that anybody out driving in the dark can be found. A warm, snowbound novel about a kindness that curdled, a town that says nothing, and a cat who cannot be called. Small-town Christmas fiction - a heroine in her forties - later-in-life romance - closed-door - family secrets - a complete standalone - a happy ending From the author of The Christmas Cat on Maple Street and The Christmas Cat on Quarry Road.
