Half leather binding, with gilt titles, gilt decorated spine, marbled paper covered boards and end papers, and gilt page top edges, others tanned. Worn with damage and loss to the leather and marbled paper joins of Vol I, marks to the leather on all boards. Pagination: xlvii, [i], 768pp; xiv, 733pp. Provenance: bookplate with initials John W.G. Spicer, Spye Park to the front. Approximately 10 inches tall (25.5cm). Condition Report Externally Spine – very good condition – gilt titles, gilt decoration to the spine compartments, rubbed, marked and worn. Joints – very good condition – sound, rubbed and worn. Corners – very good condition – rubbed and worn. Boards – good condition – half morocco leather and marbled paper covered boards, worn with damage and minor loss to the join between the marbled paper and leather to Vol I, otherwise minor marks and scratches. Page edges – good condition – top edge gilt, others tanned and foxed. Binding – very good condition – attractive. See above and photos. Internally Hinges – very good condition – sound. Paste downs – very good condition – marbled paper, bookplate. End papers – very good condition – marbled, subsequently tanned and foxed. Title – good condition – tanned and foxed. Pages – good condition – tanned and foxed, many pages uncut to Vol II. See photos.
