The Chronicles of Metal & Memory: The Weight of Balance

In a city built on miracles, the greatest danger isn’t the pressure that builds—it’s the silence that follows.

In the industrial sprawl of Eirath, Engineer Aschel serves as the Veinwarden, the man responsible for the iron mains that carry the city's lifeblood. For generations, the city has survived by a delicate treaty with the Vein—a vast, sentient foundation that responds to human patterns. But the Vein is changing. It has begun to learn, adapting to human needs before a valve is even turned.

Across the threshold between worlds, in the river-lands of Valdorin, Selka feels the same shift. The rivers are smoothing, memory-etched stones are fading, and sacred reaches are being erased in the name of efficiency.

When Councilor Hadrin proposes the "Vein Assurance Protocol"—a plan to harness the Vein’s predictive behavior for perfect civic stability—Aschel and Selka realize the terrifying cost of a world without friction. As the Vein begins to classify human lives and sacred memories as "acceptable sacrifice zones," the two must forge a new path.

To save both worlds, they must convince a city addicted to miracles to choose something far harder: intentional discomfort.
