The Church Of England Examined By Scripture And Tradition (1843)

The Church of England Examined by Scripture and Tradition is a book written by Robert Mackenzie Beverley in 1843. The book examines the Church of England in light of both scripture and tradition, seeking to understand its historical development and current practices.Beverley begins by exploring the origins of the Church of England, tracing its roots back to the early Christian church and the Reformation. He then examines the church's liturgy, sacraments, and doctrines, comparing them to the teachings of scripture and the early church fathers.Throughout the book, Beverley argues that the Church of England has strayed from its original foundations and become too influenced by secular culture. He calls for a return to the principles of scripture and tradition, and for the church to focus more on spiritual renewal and less on social and political issues. The book is written in a clear and accessible style, making it suitable for both scholars and lay readers. It provides a valuable insight into the history and theology of the Church of England, and raises important questions about the role of religion in modern society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
