The Church Master's Narrative vs. The Church's Master Narrative

In this modest volume, the reader will discover a garden of biblical and theological edibles. John Matthews has pruned seventy-plus-years of Christian living, growing & dying. . . baptism, Sunday School & confirmation, worship & study, seminary & graduate school, marriage & family, congregational ministry, military & emergency chaplaincy, university teaching, loss of a spouse & the gift of another. . . and now he is writing about the Church Master Narrative which has been the earth under his feet.

After describing that CMN, John leads the reader into three pieces of that Narrative that he believes are malignant and in need of repudiation: Theological supersessionism, Church exclusivism and Christian Messianism. His claim, as the title of this book announces, is that the Church’s Master Narrative is not the same, in every detail, as the Church Master’s Narrative. He humbly and courageously offers his career-long insights for the sake of the Kingdom of God, and for each reader to digest.
