Synopsis
The story of the Church is an epic drama, filled with adventure, danger, politics, sacrifice, and courage. Sister Mary Lea Hill tells this exciting story in The Church Rocks, a book sure to thrill children ages 10 and up, taking young readers on a whirlwind tour of Church history that will enlighten everyone. The chapters include fun fictional eyewitness accounts, additional "factoids," explanations of word meanings, and timelines, as well as adding a prayer to each chapter.
About the Authors
Sister Mary Lea Hill has been sharing her dry wit and offbeat wisdom with the Daughters of St. Paul since 1964. An experienced writer and editor, she has written a number of books including Prayer and You: Wit and Wisdom from a Crabby Mystic and Blest are the Stressed Secrets to a Happy Heart from the Crabby Mystic. Sister Lea currently carries out the Pauline mission in St. Louis, Missouri, and shares her signature humor with the rest of the world on Twitter @crabbymystic.
Sister Marlyn Evangelina Monge has been a Daughter of Saint Paul since 2005 and currently serves as an editor for books for children and teens at Pauline Books and Media. She has a master's degree in education and is pursuing a master's degree in Hispanic pastoral ministry. Before entering the convent she taught bilingual kindergarten for six years, taught in her parish's religious education program, and volunteered with the youth ministry program. She is the author of Jorge from Argentina (available in both English and Spanish), Growing in Love, and co-author of Las Posadas (all with Pauline Books and Media). Sister Marlyn is a proud tía to her six nieces and nephews.
Mary Joseph Peterson, FSP, grew up in a small Midwestern town in Illinois, which today is called Colona. In 1979 she traveled to Boston to join the Daughters of St. Paul. She studied illustration and graphic design at the Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
