Synopsis

""The Church and State in Reference to the Education Question: Or Schools and Scholars from the Commencement of the Christian Era to the Present Times"" is a historical account of the relationship between the church, state, and education from the beginning of Christianity to the mid-19th century. Written by John Stewart MacCorry in 1873, the book explores the role of the church and state in the establishment and management of schools, as well as their influence on the education of scholars throughout history. The book covers a wide range of topics, including the development of early Christian schools, the influence of the medieval church on education, the impact of the Reformation on schooling, and the growth of secular education in the modern era. MacCorry also examines the various controversies and debates that have arisen over the centuries regarding the relationship between the church, state, and education. Overall, ""The Church and State in Reference to the Education Question"" offers a comprehensive and insightful look at the complex and often contentious history of education and its relationship to religious and political institutions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
