Ciba Collection of Medical Illustrations- Volume 3- Digestive System, Part III- Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas

I was told once that the CIBA Pharmaceutical Company commissioned these atlas-like publications and used to distribute them to newly graduated doctors. Whether they were gifted or purchased, I take it that this no longer goes on. These detailed paintings of particular system of the human body are both instructive and awe-inspiring--medical illustration as art, to be sure. I am pleased to be able to offer: "Volume 3- A Compilation of Paintings on the Normal and Pathologic Anatomy of the Digestive System, Part III- Liver, Biliary Tract and Pancreas, with a Supplement on the New Aspects of Structure, Metabolism, Diagnostic and Surgical Procedures Associated witgh Certain Liver Diseases" by Frank H. Netter, M.D., issued as part of the Ciba Collection of Medical Illustrations. This book contains 56 full-color, full-page plates, each with a brief explanation of what it shows, and two other groups of similar plates as part of the aforementioned suppplements. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The clear plastic dust jacket has some scuffings to its finish but nothing serious. The hard covers are generally clean and unbumped but have some tiny scars of what I suppose were mildew. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are bright and clean throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound.
