Cinema Consciousness: A Life Lived Beside Cinema

Cinema Consciousness is a quietly attentive work that explores how cinema enters a life not as ambition or theory, but as presence. Moving through childhood memory, everyday routines, and lived practice, the book traces how watching films becomes a way of inhabiting time, space, and repetition.
Set across small-town theatres, touring tents, railway platforms, homes, classrooms, and borrowed living spaces, cinema appears here as something absorbed gradually. Sound arrives before image. Familiar gestures stay longer than stories. Attention is trained not through spectacle, but through return.
As the narrative moves from watching to making, from fiction to documentary, and from cinema to reading, the book resists the language of progress or success. Films are made and forgotten, noticed and misjudged, recognised briefly and then absorbed back into ordinary life. What remains is not achievement, but orientation.
Neither memoir nor film theory, Cinema Consciousness is a meditation on how cinema stays, how attention deepens quietly, and how meaning emerges when one remains long enough for it to surface on its own.
