Folio sized scrapbook. 15" x 12.5". [20] leaves. All sides of paper are used for pasted down cards, etc. Burgundy colored illustrated embossed covers with inlaid pasted down color illustration center of the front cover. Tears to the head and base of the spine. Hinges are cracked. Due to the heavy weight of the filled pages and the brittle nature of the paper a few leaves are detached and others starting to detach from the binding. Paper is very fragile, browned, and chipping on the edges (cards and items unaffected). Interior contents are mostly clean. Some of the pages were/are lightly sticking together causing minor scuffing on the surfaces. On the front paste down is a printed and filled in certificate for the owner of this album. The certificate reads: "A Testimonial of Approbation. Presented to (Edna M. Blanchard) for h(er) punctual attendance with correct deportment and diligent attention to h(er) Studies during the term ending November fifth, 1880 (Helen C. Kinney) Teacher." On the rear paste down is another printed and filled in certificate that is a school diploma. The writing is very faint but Edna's name and Caledonia County, VT are visible on the diploma.
