Charles had barely enough fuel for the flight back to Hacienda Tranquila. Once home he was delighted to find that Mimi, his wife, had gone to Manila and no one knew when she would return. He hoped it would be a long time before she did. Charles' aerial photos reveal a partially hidden jungle airstrip and he knows he will return soon to solve its mystery. Circle of Confusion is a story of intrigue and murder set amid the cane fields and jungles of the Philippines.

About the Author
2 Copyright 2015 All rights reserved ISBN: Circle of Confusion 3 Introduction Elinor Chamberlain was born in Muskegon, Michigan in 1901. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1922 she traveled to the Philippine Islands to teach English as a second language. Her affection for the islands and the Filipinos continued long after her return to the U.S. in 1927. She combined it with her love of creative writing and mystery novels and published several book including Appointment in Manila, Manila Hemp and Snare for Witches, during the 1940-50s. In the mid 1940s a play about Salem witches, Witchcraft or Witchhunt, (my brother and I couldn’t agree and no copies can be found) was staged at an off- Broadway theater in New York City. She returned to the University of Michigan in the early 1950s to earn a graduate degree in creative writing, where her novel The Far Command won a major Hopwood award. Three unpublished novels by Elinor Chamberlain have now been transferred from onion skin and yellow manila paper to electronic form. Two of these books are set in the Philippines, the third in historic Spain. During her lifetime she continued in the field of writing, translating classics to reduced vocabulary for USIA use abroad, free lance indexing, and always, her own writing. In her later years she Elinor Chamberlain 4 moved to a California retirement home and immediately joined a writing group there. She died in 1989 in Montecito, CA. leaving a partially completed mystery set in a retirement home and entitled Murder Among The Dinosaurs.
