The New York Times described the event thus: ""Women will be whooping it up tonight at 9 in the Manhattan Theater Club, 321 East 73d Street, between First and Second Avenues (BU 8.5000), in an evening of songs composed and sung by women. It s called "A Circle of Sound" and it s full of Broadway show tunes, ballads and contemporary songs, including a few of a peppery political kind. The songs are written mostly by the performers, who include Nancy Ford and Gretchen Cryer ("The Last Sweet Days of Isaac" and "Shelter"), Zenobia Conkerite, Carole Horne, Paula Larke, Terry Molina and Dale Soules. The club has 100 seats, and they all go for $3. Betty Buckley, who plays Catherine in the musical hit "Pippin," will have to dash uptown after taking her bows in the Imperial Theater; she will sing "I Just Sit Easy" and "If I Remember You Right" to her own music and lyrics. The performers are going to come as they are (no special costumes), so there s no reason why you cannot come as you are (within reason). A piano and a guitar will garnish this tossed salad of songs."" The program gives brief bios of the performer and director.
