Circles of Friendship - Circles of Love

Eva, after the sudden death of her husband, could have given in to loneliness, but this was not her nature. Students waited for her. Staying away from church, even briefly, was out of the question. Choir members counted on her to be at rehearsals and Sunday morning anthem singing. How comforting, exciting, and truly stimulating to be surrounded by people! Life did not always bring easy days for the new widow. Frustrations abounded, but her innate resilience made her do things she had never tackled before. Only as last resort, she asked for help from friends. Eva was fortunate to have many circles of friends and beloved family members, though most of the latter lived thousands of miles away. She also know that, in order to keep friendship and family ties alive, she had to do her part. "You have to give, if you want to receive" was her motto. And no day went by on which she did not thank God for keeping his watchful eye on her and for blessing her with circles of friendship and love.

Eva R. Priestley, born in the early 1930s in pre-war Germany, came to America in 1954. With her husband, she settled in New Jersey, where, together, they raised two daughters. Always fond of storytelling, Eva joined a creative writing class at her local senior center, immediately received first prize for her submission to a Philadelphia Writers' Conference contest, and then began selling her stories to magazines and newspapers. Her student days were numbered, for she soon became the teacher of her own creative writing classes. Later, she decided to write books and publish them herself.
