Circuit Rider Connexion: Passing the Baton of Faith

This book examines some of the ways Wesley's movement kept its vision fresh and handed it on to new generations of leaders. How did the Methodist revival cross an ocean and sweep across a continent? How were its leaders able to recruit and equip an army of preachers to multiply and mobilize new leaders and followers, even across formidable barriers of culture and geography? How did they launch a spiritual relay race in which an endless procession of runners could receive and pass their baton of faith across American and Canadian frontiers and subsequent communities experiencing constant social change? What can we learn from the culture of mentoring in which each circuit rider played a vital part?
