Two hardcover books in cardboard slipcase. Covers are gray with blue spine and gold lettering. Some mild wear and wrinkling noted to head and tail of spine. Pages are clean and unmarked with many illustrations to volume II. Slip case in good condition with wear to corners and edges but sturdy. Volume I-The Civil War: The American Iliad. This book is not intended to be just another account of the Civil War. Instead, it aims to present it as a panorama, letting the events pass before the reader's eye much as they passed before the eyes of the men and women who lived at that time. Volume II:The Civil War: The Picture Chronicle of events, leaders and battlefields of the War. This book features B & W photographs of the War with a section of mini biographies of many of the soldiers.
