This book grew out of the author's quest for a fuller sense of integration between social action and spiritual life. A Christian social activist for more than thirty years, McClain enrolled in a training program for spiritual directors. In the inner dialogue between that course and his social activism, he realized the importance of a focused spiritual life in augmenting one's social witness. Claiming All Things for God: Prayer, Discernment, and Ritual for Social Change builds on this intersection in people's lives. It includes prayer forms that can be used or adapted as necessary by persons or groups who want to include prayer as part of their witness.
