Decades of self-help volumes have spent pages and pages on saying here's THE answer; do what we say and It All Gets Better. And while what they suggest may be right for some people, it's never right for everyone.
If you're tired of authors telling you what to do, be or have without taking into account who YOU are to begin with, this is your book. Clean Out Your LifeCloset encourages you to write your own story of change based on your history, your life experiences, and your personal goals.Author Corbie Mitleid is your guide and mentor, accompanying you on your journey.
Discovering how to "get clear" on your purpose, your relationships, and your connection with Spirit allows you to simplify your life, learn the delights of going with the flow, and actually make friends with Stress, that 21st century constant companion. Through stories, examples, and her unique "Adventure Pages," you can find your own answers, design your own toolbox, and discover that healing the old and creating the new can be a positive, joyful and soul-satisfying experience.

From the Author
People have told me for YEARS, "Oh, you're so funny! You speak so well! You should write a book." And I would look at them and nod, while I'd think to myself there are a bajillion self-help books out there. What could I possibly write that would be different? Well, as the saying goes, "write what you know." I'm neither perfect nor special. I have had a life that has been roller coaster/no brakes with more than my share of mistakes, double-backs and General Stupids. But because I've learned to look at all of that with compassion for my fallible humanity -- not to mention a boatload of humor -- I've gotten through an awful lot and am still in one piece.
So I started to write about all that for you. The dysfunctional family...the career crazies...the divorces...the cancer dance. And nowhere did I write about "oh poor me." Because, my lovelies, that's not the point. The point is that whenever anything like that crossed my path, I'd squint at it and say, "Okay, Problem, you're here. Gotcha. Now, what can I do with you?" And while I worked on getting to the other side of Said Problem, I'd always look to see what I might learn from the experience that I could pass on to others. That's what happens when your nature is that of a teacher and counselor. You always look to pass on what you've learned.
And thus, the entire Self-Development Project series was born, with CLEAN OUT YOUR LIFECLOSET as the first volume of three.
Now, I'm not a self-help author who is size two, perfectly coiffed and styled, with a trust fund and six-figure speaking engagements. (Too Boho in my styling to look slick, though I'd happily take the speaking engagements, thanks.) The truth is, I'm 62, built like a brunette fireplug since the Cancer Dances. I live in a little bungalow in the middle of a very rural upstate New York county. My husband and I live a life that is by no means jet set. We are just Ordinary Folks, like so many of you reading this.
But I love my life. I'm happy. And it wasn't always that way for me; I earned it.
So that's what I want to share with you. We will all still have to get through days that are tough, and times that are scary, and we may not know what's coming around the corner.
But occasionally we can borrow each other's Road Maps to find the scenic route instead of the dead ends. And have a few laughs in the bargain.
All best and blessings --
Corbie Mitleid
