The Clearing

When a disputed boundary in the fields near Cwmhollow is quietly altered, the cost of uncertainty falls on one person who thought clarity would prevent harm.

In the days that follow, legal language and lived experience collide, subtle shifts in the land ripple into deeper consequence, and the work of mediation becomes something far harder than expected.

The Clearing is a quiet, intimate novel about the shape of boundaries - physical, legal, and emotional - and the price of attending to what others would prefer to leave unasked.

From the world of Cwmhollow.

Evan Mercer writes psychological suspense focused on control, narrative power, and the systems that quietly shape behavior. His work is characterized by restraint, procedural realism, and an interest in harm that arrives without spectacle.

The Record is his debut series.
