Climate change and pollution harm some groups more than others. This is called climate and environmental injustice. This book covers the history of climate and environmental injustice, key moments in fighting it, and what can be done to end it in the future.
Gr 7-10-This series dives into hard to read histories of injustice globally but with a focus on the US. Students will learn about the Chinese Exclusion Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Equal Rights Amendments, the Indian Removal Act, and the internment of Japanese Americans. Each title follows through to the present day but in some cases, such as Roe v. Wade, is already out of date. The final chapter in each book provides ways to help stop injustice. The books begin with a section called ‘At A Glance' which provides a quick overview of the topics to be discussed and introduces important definitions. Other vocabulary words are bolded on the pages. Back matter includes source notes, further reading, and an index. VERDICT A good introduction to painful moments in time that were often ignored by textbooks.α(c) Copyright 2011.
