Synopsis

Paleoclimatology is a rapidly growing area of research in part because of the recognition that Earth history provides us with case studies of global change. Past environments present us with a number of fascinating problems. In many cases these problems can only be solved through the integration of diverse fields from geochemistry, paleobiology. sedimentology, tectonics, meteorology and physical oceanography. The intent of this short course is entirely on the application of numerical models for the study of past environments. Our intent is to describe the application of numerical models to the study of Earth history to enhance our ability to predict environments and to broaden the application of models in paleoclimatology and paleoenvironmental study.
