Grade 3-6-- Facts about timekeeping are interspersed with short instructions for projects such as a waterclock and an hourglass. A history from sundials to atomic clocks is illustrated on large pages in a mixture of watercolors and full-color photographs. Time zones, repair, military time, and airplane schedules are also covered. This is briefer and more colorful than Bernie Zubrowski's Clocks: Building and Experimenting with Model Timepieces (Morrow, 1988), which has many thorough projects to investigate the science of various clocks.
