A broken run of seven issues of this scarce periodical produced by the women of the Saturday Morning Club of Hartford. The club was founded in 1876 by Mark Twain, and consisted of a "a group of unmarried, upper-class, local women, ranging in age from 16 to 20, who met weekly from October through June for an alternating series of lectures and discussions intended to promote "Culture and Social Intercourse" ("Talk explores history of Twain's Saturday Morning Club," ctinsider.com). Twain himself was often in attendance. These issues include articles on art, literature, culture, and the club itslef, as well as letters to the editor, summaries of club lectures sand discussions, a schedule of upcoming lectures, news about other clubs, and news/snippets about the club's members, including Twain.
