This copy is heavily worn, as usual with some loss to the top corner of the front wrapper; original spine is largely perished; early tape repair affixing front and rear wrapper; contemporary price in ink penned twice on the front cover; previous owner name in pencil at the top of the same; largely a clean copy internally with occasional creasing to leaves from being dog-eared; one leaf with minor loss to the bottom corner, affecting the margin only. A fairly uncommon version of what was a truly unseemly murder in Virginia. "Cluverius came from one of the 'better' Virginia families. He had married Lillian Madison, a country girl, but had kept the marriage a secret from his family and friends. He finally had her come to Richmond, where he murdered her and threw her body into the reservoir. He was quickly traced, tried, and executed" McDade 193.
